• The Living Church, Elohim

    “/”You Are Gods

The concept of a triune God carries the notion of a collective conscious.  Nous  Emile Durkheim.

All this is is a permutation of that idea.

One God whose Spirit can operate remotely (God in Him).

Christ, who was given the mission  (“only begotten”, meaning only begotten, or first begotten who was appointed) of extending God’s love to his creation (He didn’t just love us, His Covenant extends to ‘every beast, crawling thing’ everything sentient, in regard to which a thought might be spared to protect them from annihilation.)

God’s original intention was that He deal with each individual face to face, eye to eye.  But Israel’s corruption. leading to their plea at the base of the Mt. to have an intermediary interposed between them and God, and the propensity of mankind, the crown of creation, generally, to misapprehend, forget, outright fail (consider disaster Christ faced in His Apostles, and if them, in this unforgettable and striking experience, than all mankind), God, first disappointed (2 Sam), gradually comes around to accept the idea, particularly as He wanted some way to distinguish Christ for His extraordinary accomplishment of defeating the devil, and asserting the fidelity or integrity of God, “make you a light to the nations”.

Before there was our world, but perhaps after there was ‘war in heaven’, God determined that his minions were prone to think and act in ways that ‘never occurred’ to Him, and which were likewise antithetical to His ‘kind intentions’.  And this may be what prompted Him to establish Elohim, which is an entity wherein God is above all, through Christ, to pervade the creation with the sentient Light of God.  Throughout the Creative stages of Genesis, the “We” God adopts is a literal We, and in the original editions of the Bible this is signified by the referent Elohim.  So rather than some conceit, it is a literal collective consciousness, perhaps the result of the disharmony in Heaven, whereby God, directly or through the Christ, is in constant touch with His sentient ones, and if God should be otherwise engaged, Christ carries on this purpose, wherein He reads the hearts of every man and bast in communion with them, with the intention to remind any wayward ones of the ultimate result of opposing their wisdom to the Father’s.  And this arrangement is God’s happy answer to the travail to which the creation was subjected from within itself.

Compared with the alternative that God could wipe the slate clean, this is a good solution.  It involves some compromises to each party to the arrangement, but such sacrifices on His part point to the Love that God holds, not only in himself, but extending to (Satan and Devil expiated) His Creation.  We might think of the Act of creation as superfluous to an all-sufficient God, but He has done it, and the reason may be that he sought an existential experience, one that has involved risk, but which ultimately will affirm that God is a good God, who is Mighty (Shaddai), but at the same time is Compassionate (Elohim).

In the New Jerusalem, the primary activity that we see adumbrated is the proclamation by the Creation of the Holiness of God, and of His Son, Jesus Christ, who, in the face of the self-corruption of man, both carried within themselves the capacity to corrupt Creation; God by destroying what He regarded as a failure, and Christ by lacking the strength he has expressed in overcoming a plague of defection, which faith in God tells us is not possible, but which the Devil and his lost ones insisted would transpire.  God’s patience and conviction led Him to put the responsibility for this perilous situation into the hands of Jesus. placing His integrity in the hands of the very Creation which appeared to be turning sour.  And He has vindicated Himself, which is something that, still in darkness, the world will witness the full realization of from the Seed of Abraham/Isaac/Israel, and ultimately Jesus.  God challenged His Creation to declare itself, placing His bet on Jesus, who rose to greatness.

So the same God who “sees the end from the beginning”, has done so, if I might venture, by an existential assertion of that integrity (which exercise He undertook for Sport), which we are now able to see has resulted in vindication and Glory, Happiness, Celebration, Praise to Him and to him, Christ our brother.
